TripAdvisor, one of the premier travel metasearch engines a traveler review directories, continued their growth within the vacation rental sector of the travel industry by recently acquiring Vacation Home Rentals, a Massachusetts-based vacation rentals website.

Vacation Home Rentals features more than 14,000 properties around the world. This brings the number of vacation rentals featured on TripAdvisor to 550,000 rental properties worldwide.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Vacation Home Rentals to the TripAdvisor family,” said Dermot Halpin, president of
TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals. “The team delivers a great experience for both homeowners and travelers, and the inventory is a valuable addition to our fast-growing business.”

This is the second acquisition for the TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals group in the past 12 months. In May 2013, TripAdvisor acquired Niumba, a leading vacation rentals website in Spain.

Vacation Rental Industry Trends
The Vacation Rental Managers Association (VRMA) is currently predicting great industry growth in 2014, despite some legal issues regarding one of the world’s largest startups, Airbnb. The company is currently facing a subpoena in the state of New York, and San Francisco legislators are attempting to put similar legislation into place that will make it illegal for owners to rent out their dwelling for less than 30 days.

ResortsandLodges.com continues to add API partners, allowing travelers around the world to book rooms directly through the RALBook availability search. Our goal is to give travelers the opportunity to plan and book memorable experiences at unique lodging properties across the globe.
